Where’s the Bus?

Published by editor under Latest News

The bus is being repowered with an Isuzu 6 BGI intercooled turbo engine and 7 speed transmission.  We hope to have it finished within the next couple of weeks and are determined to beat the Volvo of Shane Penn up the Te Aute (or any other) hill :-)

Thanks to all of our crew, supporters and fans, special thanks to our sponsors, we hope to give you great value for your much appreciated financial support.  If you see us at the track, feel free to come and have a chat, we may even have some ‘specials’ on t-shirts.

Meanwhile thanks again to all of the other competitors, volunteers and helpers who make speedway what it is.

PlaceMakers Superstock Series Round 1 Palmerston North

Published by editor under Latest News

The fine but freezing cold night, Meeanee was cancelled so there were plenty of HB supporters in town!  19 cars lined up and we managed 5th place in both of the first two races.  Race 2 we nearly rolled as an out of control 96P took us to the wall.  Two bent rims and front axle made race 3 difficult to drive also with the slicked off track we should have changed our set up as the car would just not perform and we finished down the field.  Our next meeting is Meeanee Guy Fawkes night – November 10th then Stratford for Round 2 of the PlaceMakers Superstock Series – 17th November.

Meeanee Opening Night

Published by editor under Latest News

We have 10 superstocks thanks to 2 visitors from Wanganui, and Joe Faram who is contracted to Gisborne. Two second places after two races and we are very happy with the cars performance. Then the feature and after about 3 laps something is wrong…..

The right rear was so low and scraping the track so we pulled up on the Hastings straight (hoping to cross the line) which we did, giving us third place overall for the night. Joe was first, Andy McCabe second. Anyway the rim centre had collapsed and thanks to some hard work again by Murray and our crew, we got the car on the trailer.

Palmerston North Opening Night

Published by editor under Latest News

Palmy opening night was great, we had the company of Craig Owen in 8B, the old 31B or Hewson/Thickpenny Rotorua chev, in his first nights racing.  Good field of superstocks, we drew grid 3 in the first alongside 3NZ Shane Penn.  Well off we go roaring down the grandstand straight and hello 7B wants to keep going flat out.  The throttle is jammed on and hard out.  You guessed it, straight into the wall and quickly get her turned off.  Towed out to the pits, we find several little niggly things wrong, we think we have it right and away she roars again.  Lucky we had plenty of helpers, that’s the great thing about speedway always lots of willing helpers around.  Anyway, we missed race 2 but Murray Long managed to get us going for the last where we finish a very happy 7th after nervously starting off the back. Craig survived the night, despite hitting the wall pretty hard, but was pleased with the nights result overall.

Welcome to 2007/2008 Season

Published by editor under Latest News

Welcome to our website, we trust you will enjoy the information provided and we look forward to keeping you informed of 7B’s progress throughout the season.

Firstly a big thanks to Chris Morris for providing this site, along with all the photo’s. If you would like to purchase any just go to www.racepics.co.nz

We completely stripped 7B during the winter, Brian Hartley from the Headshop freshened the engine along with a couple of extra mods (don’t tell 96H Scott Redfern). Murray Long reconditioned the gearbox, Darren Melling did the steel work, while Mark Walford fabricated a new rear axle, replacing the one Pat Westbury and Peter Rees bent at the Auckland teams champs. Napier Sandblasting cleaned it all up ready for Owens Painting Contractors to paint the chasis along with the bonnet, wing and new body supplied by East Coast Raceglass. Then it was off to Dean at Sign It Up to add the finishing touches with a touch of genius! The paint work is great and the signwriting really shows it off. Thanks to them all for a fantastic effort. We feel it looks to good to be a dirt track racer. None the less it is a superstock and will be raced and repaired as needed. Special thanks to Shayne, Carl, Jeff, Craig and the women folk for putting up with those long nights in the shed.
